چکیده

Universal functions and amplitude ratios associated with the classes of second order phase transitions are used as additional tests of the prediction that the pure glue, SU(2), nite-temperature, deconnning phase transition is in the universality class of the three-dimensional Ising model. Published gauge theory Monte Carlo data, give values that can be compared with theory and Ising model numerical results. The qualitative and rough quantitative agreement are encouraging. However, there are some deenite quantitative discrepancies.

’t Hooft loops, electric flux sectors, and confinement in SU„2... Yang-Mills theory

We use ’t Hooft loops of maximal size on finite lattices to calculate the free energy in the sectors of SU(2) Yang-Mills theory with fixed electric flux, as a function of temperature and ~spatial! volume. Our results provide evidence for the mass gap. The confinement of electric fluxes in the low temperature phase and their condensation in the high temperature phase are demonstrated. In a surpr...

Analytical Analysis of The Dual-phase-lag Heat Transfer Equation in a Finite Slab with Periodic Surface Heat Flux (RESEARCH NOTE)

This work uses the dual-phase-lag (DPL) model of heat conduction to demonstrate the effect of temperature gradient relaxation time on the result of non-Fourier hyperbolic conduction in a finite slab subjected to a periodic thermal disturbance. DPL model combines the wave features of hyperbolic conduction with a diffusion-like feature of the evidence not captured by the hyperbolic case. For the ...

Wave Propagation at the Boundary Surface of Inviscid Fluid Half-Space and Thermoelastic Diffusion Solid Half-Space with Dual-Phase-Lag Models

The present investigation deals  with the reflection and transmission phenomenon due to incident plane longitudinal wave at a plane interface between inviscid fluid half-space and a thermoelastic diffusion solid half-space with dual-phase-lag heat transfer (DPLT) and dual-phase-lag diffusion (DPLD) models. The theory of thermoelasticity with dual-phase-lag heat transfer developed by Roychoudhar...

Dimensional Reduction and Screening Masses in Pure Gauge Theories at Finite Temperature

We studied screening masses in the equilibrium thermodynamics of SU(2) and SU(3) pure gauge theories on the lattice. At a temperature of 2Tc we found strong evidence for dimensional reduction in the nonperturbative spectrum of screening masses. Mass ratios in the high temperature SU(3) theory are consistent with those in the pure gauge theory in three dimensions. At the first order SU(3) phase ...
